Acne
So we're here today to talk about acne. Acne can affect older folks, and it can affect younger people as well. There might be a lot of reasons in common in both cases.
Usually, diet has a big part to play, possibly the acne could be due to food allergies, it could be due to toxicity in the body, where the body is just overwhelmed and can't eliminate all the toxins through the bowel and through the urine. So basically, the skin is the next big organ of elimination. And that's where a lot of toxins come out.
So stress is another reason for people having acne, sometimes high cortisol levels can cause acne. And basically, that causes the skin to be more oily, the ducts actually get blocked and can eliminate the oil and one would wind up with a pimple. Besides stress, sometimes it actually could be due to high testosterone due to other hormone imbalances in the body. So by getting the testosterone level under control, one can basically reduce the acne. Besides it being painful and unsightly and possibly causing some scarring, one has to get ahead of that.
And I'm not a big fan of Accutane, which is a common drug that's prescribed that has a high side effect profile. So I really recommend that you try to go after it with diet.
And also there are supplements that you can take one of the best things is probiotics, and probiotics help to clean up the flora in the gut. They also help to break down hormones in the gut. So if one is having high levels of testosterone, by doing probiotics, you can break the hormones down and then eliminate them, as opposed to them being absorbed for a second pass and causing an imbalance by too much hormone. Also, for the high cortisol levels. There are supplements like Rhodiola ashwagandha, that help to bring cortisol levels down and will actually not only help with anxiety, but also help with the oily skin.
We also like to treat the liver, the liver helps to metabolize oils, and most acne could be caused by the pores being blocked with oil. There are supplements such as lipoic acid, and there's another herbal supplement called neem that we use that helps to clean the skin up.
